UGANDA TEAM TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 19 – 27 AUGUST 2023, BUDAPEST – HUNGARY

UGANDA TEAM TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 19 – 27 AUGUST 2023, BUDAPEST – HUNGARY Uganda Athletics Federation has entered 21 Athletes to represent Uganda at the World Championships in Athletics 19th -27th August 2023 in Budapest Hungary. The team of 9 women and 12 men has the World 10,000m defending Champion Cheptegei Kiprui Joshua chasing a double of 10,000m and 5,000m with Jacob Kiplimo. On the side of the women it is Chelangat Sarah who will attempt this feat. The team has a sprinter in Orogot Gracious Tarsis who comfortably qualified in the men’s 200m after an excellent form in the USA. Another new face in the team is Dradiga Tom who makes his debut to the prestigious World Championships after qualifying in the 800m. Olympics 3000m Steeple Chase defending Champion, Chemutai Peruth alongside former World Champion in the 800m (2019), Nakaayi Halima will lead Uganda’s medal hunt for the women. The team will depart in three batches, on the 17th, 21st, and 24th August aboard Turkish Air. The last batch comprises of the 6 Marathon Athletes whose competition Schedule is on the 26th and 27th August for the Women and Men respectively. Oding Quinto will act as the team Physiotherapist, Chelangat Peter as the Safe guarding officer whereas Chesang Grace will be the Team Chaperone.
